A production commerce app needs more than new features. It also needs reliable integrations, maintainable code, and a delivery workflow that keeps releases moving.
At Catalyst, I contributed to the development and revamp of Voila's Android and iOS applications using Flutter. I worked with cross-functional teams to deliver product features, integrate third-party services, and improve the engineering workflows behind ongoing releases.
Work I'm proud of
I contributed to the Live Shopping experience by developing functionality around the BeLive integration, including WebView communication, Picture-in-Picture behavior, and feature-flagged rollout controls. This work connected live commerce capabilities with the existing mobile app while allowing features to be introduced through controlled releases.
I also worked on the Google Maps integration, replacing legacy place-picker dependencies with an internal reusable solution. The migration improved control over the integration, supported Flutter upgrade work, and helped reduce reliance on the previous Maps implementation with service costs in mind.
Beyond product features, I contributed to legacy code refactoring and GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows for Android and iOS builds. I also worked on deep linking and analytics-related implementation, helping maintain the app while new capabilities continued to evolve.
What this taught me
Working on a production commerce app reinforced the importance of balancing product delivery with long-term maintainability. Small engineering decisions around dependencies, release automation, and third-party integrations can make a meaningful difference to how a team builds and maintains a product.
